Reach for the Sky! - July 31/2012
Alison and I made another visit to the Magic Kingdom! As we were walking up Main Street the Dapper Dans were performing. I love these guys! We hung around to watch the end of the performance and I finally managed to get a picture with them. I was quite happy to see that I actually matched with the costumes! The only thing that would have made it better would have been if I’d been wearing stripes!

After the show, we made a bee-line for Tom Sawyer’s Island. I’d never been before and I was determined to explore it at least once before I had to head home. It was wonderful. This was actually one of my favourite places! I would love to pack a lunch and spend the afternoon just hanging out there.
While on the island we decided to explore the caves, which was very unnerving for the claustrophobic in me. I did get lost at one point and I was very scared! But Alison rescued me, and we made it back to safety of an open sky and fresh air!

Alison and I entered the fort on the island and got caught up in a very vicious land battle between two nine year olds. Luckily we managed to escape without being harmed! But then we had to defend the fort by shooting at passengers on the deck of the riverboat as it passed- they never even saw us coming! At this point we had to make a quick get away, so we found a secret escape tunnel that led us underground and out of the fort.
We had some slight issues when it came to crossing the barrel bridge. Of course, by “we” I really mean “me”. Alison jumped from barrel to barrel like a pro! I, however, kept getting my shoes caught in between the barrels. It was a terrifying experience. But it was worth it in the end because it led us to the infamous white-washed fence. Alison and I had slightly different approaches to our affection for Tom (and dislike of Becky)!

The rest of the day was spent on a variety of attractions, but my favourite was Splash Mountain. I was a Canadian Moose. Alison was a Canadian Fish-Moose…?

Yeah, I’m not really sure what that is either. But it’s one of the reasons I love her so much!
We finished off the night watching the parade. It was almost like a private show because we were watching at the end of the parade route and were basically the only people there! So much fun! A wonderful finish to a wonderful day :D
